Heart to Heart to Heart Connections

July 2022

I am a 7-month old grandma of twin boys, with a third bundle on his/her way – due to arrive as a sweet valentine in 2023! As a grandma watching her grandsons grow leaps and bounds, I am noticing that as they become increasingly aware of the world around them they also crave more connection with each other and those close to them. Separation is becoming an issue in their minds and they holler against it in protest.

That need for connection is one of the first gifts from God we receive. As with all His gifts, it is an illustration of His character and His plan for us … to find the ultimate satisfying connection in being one with Him. But, as with babes, we must grow into the fullness of understanding what that connection means and looks like (which I believe will not be complete until we meet Him face to face). Our relationships on earth are great cultivators for this gift of connection.

What I do understand now is that no one crosses my path by accident; even virtual, online paths. When I speak of crossing a path, I am referring to the occasions that an interaction happens between me and someone else … anything from the clerk at the store to the chat with a friend. It is my responsibility and honor to treat that connection with a listening ear and a sincerity of interest in their well-being. The clerk deserves a smile and patience, no matter the quality of service. The friend deserves someone to hear what they are saying and to have honest, truthful exchanges of ideas and thoughts. These are high amongst the things which I believe honor God in my everyday.

Bringing this thought bubble around to my art and connections, I believe when my art sparks interest in someone it is a Joy Spark from God. “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father…” (James 1:17a) Something caught the eye and triggered an emotion that drew a smile on the heart. This harmonious chain reaction happens because God made us in His image, with the ability to respond to His goodness. We are doubly blessed when we recognize this.

Therefore, my prayer as I write these words is for revelation of God’s goodness to happen in the heart of you, dear reader.

It pleases and delights me to think that I may have sparked a splash of Happy into someone’s heart. I am humbled by that thought for I believe that spark of joy is God using my heARTwork for His ministry to those who seek Him. He is always demonstrating His love for us.

May you experience more of God’s Joy-sparks today. – Kristy
